Casting
Blame in the Wrong Direction
The
media, picking up their talking points from conservatives, is ready to
blame Obama for everything. After all, he was unable to attain
bipartisanship. He was unable to get medical reform through. Although
he managed to save the economy, it was not fast enough. He has not produced
enough jobs quick enough. He spends too much money fixing problems that
conservatives created. When he isnt speaking enough, he is speaking
too little. He must be held responsible for the bombing that failed to
happen over Christmas time. Placing terrorists in maximum security prisons
is somehow equivalent o setting them free.
In effect, the so-called liberal media is doing the
dirty work in validating conservative propaganda. Conservatives can sit
back for a while, laughing while they count their tea bags.
The media is blaming Obama for all the failures that
conservatives caused. They seem to forget all the lies and hate and see
only the man who is working to save this country and continues to run
into conservative brick walls. It seems that we have no stomach for heroes
anymore. In this entertainment obsessed environment, the villains are
so much more interesting.
It truly saddens me to see the evils of conservatism
gaining ground everywhere I look.
How is that happening? What could possibly make conservatism,
which offers nothing tangible, attractive to so many people?
It is attractive because people have been purposely
made afraid and angry by conservative prattle. When people are
afraid and angry, they naturally resist change. When paranoia sets in,
they are ready to paint even the good guys as evil. They want the causes
of their fear and anger to stop, and conservatives have done well to convince
them that the cause is none other than President Obama and liberalism,
when conservative propaganda is the actual cause.
In other words, people are swallowing the conservative
propaganda hook, line and sinker because that is all they hear.
The political tactics of the Right are working.
Frightened people will believe just about anything.
This is why we hear so many conservatives spewing out fear, hate
and conspiracy theories. They dont have to prove anything. Just
rouse the emotion until reason flies out of the window. Before you know
it, average citizens are voting against their own interests, while the
wealthy elite, Republicans all, laugh all the way to the bank.
If
liberals and moderates ever hope of taking back their country and preserving
real American principles, they have to combat this with education and
a united voice explaining to the people what is going on. Exposing
conservative lies is never difficult, but it has to be relentless.
Who will champion truth and the well-being of the nation?
The media wont do it. Liberal politicians are too afraid to be targets
of the conservative attack machine, even though it would do them well
politically. It has to be us. We have to speak out.
When
a woman called my house spouting lies about healthcare reform, she asked
me if I agreed. I told her that I did not, and that she should be ashamed
of herself for spreading such un-American lies. I then had the pleasure
of hanging up. There was a time when I would have just politely wiggled
my way out of that call. Now I see that as cowardly.
There is just too much at stake for us to be silent,
or to withdraw our support because progress takes times.
